If you have lost your pet, the best approach is to file a lost report. You may also come to the shelter on Open days to identify your animal. Photos of your pet are most helpful to us along with a detailed description of your animal. After filling out the form below, you are encouraged to follow up by emailing us at info.lchs@gmail.com. Colorado state law requires an animal be held for a period of 5 days after which time the animal legally belongs to the Logan County Humane Society if not reclaimed. This is why it is also important to check our adoption section, as your pet may already be available for adoption.
If you have found a pet, you may use the same form with information about the animal and check if we have any matching lost reports. If the animal is wearing a rabies tag, we can trace the owner’s contact information. We can also scan the animal for a microchip. If you are unable to keep the animal in your care, we can instruct you on how to proceed, please give us a call at 970-466-PETS(7387). We can only take found animals from within the City limits of Sterling, CO.
