VOLUNTEER

Do you love animals? What’s more, are you passionate about improving the lives of shelter dogs and cats so that they are happier and find forever homes? If so, why not volunteer at your local humane society? This can be an enriching experience for many as our volunteers are essential to the success of Logan County Humane Society.

As a volunteer, you can expect to provide a variety of duties that contribute to the overall care and health of the animals including dog walking, cleaning the facilities, feeding the animals, and more! You can expect to see animals in distress and you may have to work with dogs and cats who are in quarantine and isolation units. Therefore, it helps to have some experience working with animals and an understanding of how they respond to humans.

Why Volunteer?

A huge reason for volunteering at an animal shelter is being able to see the change your dedication and love make in the lives of our furry friends. As our volunteers begin spending time with them, their personalities begin emerging. Just by giving a dog or cat a simple bath or brushing their coat, you are rewarded by seeing them respond with love. In addition to the benefits of working with our animals, volunteering gives you the opportunity to gain new skills and references that can help you in your future career endeavors.

Our volunteers are expected to behave professionally and punctually, meaning being on time for your scheduled shift. If you’re running late, notify us. By serving as a volunteer, you gain responsibility, which signifies your dedication to a worthy cause. Another important perk of volunteering is that it makes you a better citizen or promotes civic responsibility. Volunteering allows you to give to a cause that you’re passionate about. Therefore, if you care deeply about the welfare of animals, by being a volunteer at an animal shelter, you’re making a big difference in the lives of abandoned pets. This also lets you give back to your local community.
